How to apply

"I used to feel so lost. When it all went pear shaped, as it did for me so many times, I lost all confidence. With the Gordon Moody Association's support I now have a sense of hope about my future."

By visiting this website you have taken the first step towards seeking the help you need. To free yourself from problem gambling and all the negative effects on your life will not be easy, but we are here to help you.

We here at the Gordon Moody Association have found that a serious gambling addiction is not something that you can free yourself from without help and without changing the way you think, feel and behave. You will need to look at your life; the experiences that may make you feel different from everyone else; and then plan the way forward taking into account the strains, stresses, aims and ambitions that make you gamble.

Our residential treatment programme begins with an initial two week assessment followed by 12 weeks of treatment and all clients live here full time for the duration of their stay.

To consider your application we need a form fully completed called the Gambling Audit which you can complete online by clicking the button below.

Apply for a Place

Alternatively you can download it using this link and return it via post, fax 01384 217649 or a scanned pdf to help@gordonmoody.org.uk . Any information you provide will be treated confidentially. On receipt of your application you will then be contacted and a telephone interview will be arranged at a time to suit you.

Please ensure that you provide an address and/or contact number so we can communicate with you further, if you have no address or phone number where you can be reached please contact us by telephone on 01384 241292 to discuss how we can proceed with your application.

Following our initial assessment we will contact you to let you know the options. We may need to gain some more information from you or refer you to another support service. Once we have received all the supporting information we need, the referrals team will make a decision and you will be contacted to inform you of the next stage.

If you need assistance with completing the form please call us and we will be happy to help. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

What happens next?

If we believe that you will benefit from the residential programme you will be invited to begin a two week residential assessment at one of the residential treatment centres. During this time we will work with you to establish whether the 12 week programme is likely to be of real benefit to help your recovery and it will prepare the foundations for the course. On successful completion of the two week assessment stage your 12 week treatment programme will begin.

Cost of treatment

For those who cannot pay for treatment there are no direct costs to the individual for our services as we are a charity which seeks funding from other sources to carry out our work.

The accommodation costs are not externally funded however and applicants need to be eligible for UK state benefits in order to pay their accommodation and living costs or be able to fund the cost of the accommodation from other sources. This will be discussed with you at initial assessment stage. We also have a small bursary fund for those exceptional circumstances where people are unable to secure state benefits and have no other means of paying their accommodation costs.

Whilst the treatment is free to clients if you are able to contribute to the cost of the service or have an employer who is willing to sponsor your stay this will help us to ensure that the service can continue to be available.
