Male Part Residential

Do you need support for your gambling, but you don’t require the intensity of a 12 week fully residential programme?

Service for Male Problem Gamblers

Gordon Moody Association announces a new treatment programme to meet the needs of men who are struggling to overcome their problem gambling. The Men’s Retreat & Counselling programme currently runs once a year (around October) and combines two short term residential stays with twelve, weekly therapy sessions delivered either online, via the phone or face to face.

The first three night residential will include a series of therapeutic group workshops in a comfortable setting away from the distractions of daily life. During this time, you will be able to disengage from your day to day life and focus on your own needs and issues. You will be supported to develop an understanding of why your gambling has become so problematic in a positive and supportive network with other men who are struggling with similar problems.

This will be followed by weekly one-to-one therapy sessions face to face, on the telephone or online for a period of roughly eight weeks. For an hour a week you will get support with day to day problems and engage in further pieces of work that will help you to overcome your problem gambling.

After eight weeks, attendees will engage in another residential stay for a further two nights.  During this time, you will be able to look at what you have learned, discuss any problems you have experienced during treatment and create a personal plan that will enable you to lead a gambling free future.

The programme will conclude following an additional four, one to one weekly sessions.

Am I suitable?

  • This programme requires a commitment from you for twelve weeks, can you attend both residential stays, weekly one to ones and online groups every two weeks?
  • The programme is intense and emotionally challenging, are you prepared to share your story with others, in a group setting, and engage in all of the group exercises?
  • You will be required to live your life whilst in recovery without the constant support that a fully residential programme provides.  Is this the right Gordon Moody programme for you or should you be considering the fully residential programme?
  • Have you already tried different types of support like Gamblers Anonymous or GamCare support?  If not, why not?
  • Success in the programme requires honesty and dedication, are you ready?  If so….please apply!

There is currently no cost for this treatment to you other than your travel to and from the venue. Should you require any more information please do not hesitate to contact us and we would be happy to talk to you.

Please note that this programme may be subject to change, at short notice, due to the Covid crisis.

You may also be suitable for our Men's Residential Treatment Programme - please take a look at this page, and the criteria.
